We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to join our finance team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for migrating our payroll system from Preceda to DayForce and overseeing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payment to our employees, and maintaining compliance with all relevant Australian and New Zealand legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Smooth transition of payroll migration across Australia.
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all employees on a fortnightly payroll.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation, including the Fair Work Act, the Employee Relations Act, Awards, taxation laws, superannuation guarantee, and state-specific payroll requirements (e.g., workers' compensation).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records within our HRIS/payroll system, including employee data, leave balances, and tax information, adhering to data privacy regulations.
- Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, interpreting employment and taxation laws as needed.
- Prepare and submit accurate payroll reports to internal stakeholders and external authorities within required timeframes.
- Manage superannuation contributions and ensure timely and accurate processing in line with Australian superannuation regulations.
- Process termination payments accurately and in compliance with Australian employment law.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation and implement necessary updates to payroll systems and processes to maintain compliance.
- Collaborate effectively with People Experience and finance teams to ensure accurate and consistent payroll data and resolve any discrepancies.
- Train, educate and coach Managers to ensure compliance with payroll processes and procedures.
- Implement and maintain efficient payroll systems and ensure data integrity and security in line with required standards.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to internal controls under relevant regulations.
Skills & Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a Payroll Management role within Australia, within Retail or Hospitality industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Australian and New Zealand payroll laws, taxation, superannuation, and relevant industrial relations frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with payroll software ideally with DayForce and Preceda.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance within the Australian context.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll information clearly to employees and stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive payroll data according to privacy laws.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet strict payroll deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
